Dr. Perez is a Medical Psychologist licensed to prescribe psychotropic medication in the state of Louisiana. Medical psychology is the profession of the health sciences which deals with the examination, diagnosis, and pharmacologic treatment and/or management of mental, nervous, emotional, behavioral, or cognitive disorders. This specifically includes the authority to prescribe medication. Medical Psychologists are licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Perez is one of fewer than 85 members of the Louisiana Academy of Medical Psychologists (LAMP).
Dr. Perez is a native of Jackson, MS. She earned her undergraduate degree (BA in Psychology) from Loyola University in 1996. In 1999, Dr. Perez earned her Master's at Mississippi College (MS in Marriage & Family Therapy, cum laude). She was awarded her Doctorate (PhD in Clinical Psychology) from Jackson State University in 2005 before completing her Clinical Internship at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC). To further advance her expertise, she earned a Postdoctoral Master's in Clinical Psychopharmacology from Alliant International University.
Dr. Perez is committed to providing service to her community. She has contributed her efforts to several national organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, and Girl Scouts of America. Dr. Perez was one of only five professionals chosen by the American Heart Association to participate in their "From: Your Heart" campaign. As a mental health advocate and expert, Dr. Perez has appeared on several news outlets and presented at multiple events sharing her expertise in behavioral health.
