Dr. Baraka W. Perez, also known as Dr. B, is a Medical Psychologist licensed to prescribe psychotropic medication in the state of Louisiana. She is well-trained in multiple facets of the psychology field. She has over 20 years of clinical experience treating children, adolescents, and adults. Clients appreciate her flexibility, creativity, and diligence. She is dedicated to her craft, passionate about her clients, and guarantees impeccable service.
As an extension of her commitment to behavioral health, Dr. B teaches the art of quieting the mind and being present with her guided meditation service. She supports, uplifts, and encourages women to make themselves a priority and "take up space" with her signature program, Be Well with Dr. B. Dr. B utilizes her YouTube channel, "The Breakdown" to explain mental health issues in easy to understand language and a lighthearted manner. This combination of services suits Dr. B well as it allows her to impact broader audiences while encouraging self-care and relationship building.
As a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Dr. B is committed to providing service to her community. She contributes her time and efforts to several national organizations, including the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, and Girl Scouts of America. As a mental health advocate, Dr. B has been featured on multiple media platforms, presented at numerous conferences, and organized charity events to encourage self-care and erase the stigma of mental illness. She has lead presentations for Fortune 500 companies and been cited in "Today Parents."
